Support MAWOCN

Honoring our 13th year, we reflect on the impact of your support and
commitment to the mission of the Massachusetts Women of Color
Network (MAWOCN) Inc. Your contribution to the recent success of
our first fundraiser, “13 Reasons to Celebrate,” was remarkable!
Through your incredible generosity, we raised an astounding
$40,635.52, and every dollar has made a tangible impact on our work. Thank you!

Now… we need your help to continue the work!

Sexual and domestic violence (SDV) isn’t merely a crime; it’s a pervasive
force that rips away autonomy, fractures self-worth and corrodes the
pillars of safety and trust within our communities. MAWOCN is committed to ending abuse by empowering those who diligently support survivors. We support the leadership and sustainment of self-identified women of color (WoC) working in the sexual and domestic violence movement in Massachusetts. More recently, our field has witnessed positive shifts in the length of tenure for WoC, and more WoC in leadership roles. Please continue to support our work.

The funds previously raised helped us to strengthen our operations by hiring an accountant which increased our staff capacity to better serve the needs of women of color. Additionally, we hosted 3 Community Care and Connection events, with more scheduled for 2024. Our statewide convenings provide culturally specific spaces for WoC to learn, network, and receive mutual support.

Notably, we are creating the Keeping Black Survivors Alive (KBSA) multimedia toolkit, which will offer a training curriculum on best practices, strategies, and resources for supporting Black survivors. About 6 weeks
ago, one of our lead consultants was shot 3 times and is recovering. As we continue to witness the devasting need for this comprehensive training tool, we are working double time to finish and launch the KBSA toolkit.

Today, we come to you with an ask— for a donation of any amount, to support our training and technical assistance for women of color in the SDV field and the general community.

Thank you for considering our work and those we serve.

With Much Respect and Gratitude,

Executive Director, Kishana Smith
